I’ve always liked American Idol. It’s always a good platform for budding singers to show their talent and also for blooming idiots to show their lack of it. It makes a good reality show and plus all the hellos you can come across in America, it makes a very good show. But this season particularly has been outstanding because some of those left in this season are genuine show stoppers. In particularly, these two.
This is David Cook. He is the red hot favourite to win it and why not. Anyone who has been following Idol will tell you that he is already a star. His performances has been true to his unique style. Playing a mean guitar on one hand and belting out his powerful voice into the mic on another. He has been constantly mixing and matching the arrangement of popular songs and making an entirely different hit out of it. Yesterday, he rocked out to a Mariah Carey song. Say what? Yup Mariah Carey. That buxom singer with the trademark screechy voice. Yet, he sprinkled his magic dust again and got the crowd on their feet for the umpteenth time. Brilliant brilliant brilliant.
And this is Jason Castro. My personal favourite. This dude is the epitome of cool. He is very Jack Johnson-ish in style but only with killer dreadlocks and piercing blue eyes. It’s not hard to see why girls are going crazy over him. He exudes this strong silent charm every time he appears on stage and his soothing voice together with his elegant guitar strumming makes a perfect combination. You’re steady kacang la bro. Keep on playing your brand of music.
It doesn’t matter if they don’t win the competition. Regardless of what happens, they deserve an album to showcase their distinct music styles and I’ll be waiting to hear it.
