If you had enough money to start a business, what would it be?
That was the million dollar question posed by Mus yesterday. The question itself was as intriguing as the goal scored off his knee but now that I think about it, its always intriguing when Mus scores.
So this is my answer. Wait for it…….
I’ll set up a TUITION CENTRE. And in particular, one that is geared towards the Malay community. Something in the mould of Mendaki and Mercu but not quite. Because in this increasingly competitive education system, parents are desperate for their kids to do well. And they would want help right from the start. Even Pri 1 kids are attending tuition nowadays. There’s so much pressure already at such a young age and though it’s outright ridiculous, that remains the truth. At the rate this is going, our kids might be attending tuition from their mother’s womb but at the rate WE/TOWNS are going, we are only kidding ourselves with the prospect of having our own offspring. Pun intended.
So how do we differentiate this tuition centre from all the other ubiquitous tuition centres that are already around? If you are a Maths freak, you would probably say dY/dX but please God NO. It’s all in the name. And knowing how kecoh all the mak ciks are, the word of mouth is an important medium of information. So I present to you… TUITION POWER! And I foresee this conversation coming.
Bedah : Eh kau tahu.. Sejak aku hantar anak aku pegi tuition kan, markah dia makin bagus ah.
Sa’adiah : EH? Betul? Apa nama tempat tuition itu?
Bedah : TUITION POWER!
Sa’adiah : Eh tak ya la pekik. Aku bukannye pekak.
Bedah: Eh bukan aku nak pekik. Memang ada exclamation mark.
Sa’adiah : Ye tak ye eh. Aku pun nak hantar anak aku la macam gitu.
See how easy it is to attract customers. And we will have round rooms to maximise learning. Potential Mats won’t have a corner where they can chill. And during the breaks, we will serve Roti John Power, Nasi Lemak Boon Lay Power, Bandung Power etc. By ingraining this POWER in their head, they will sub-consciously be more confident in themselves. As it gets close towards exams, we can launch this intensive program called ‘Buku Tambah’ to further help them in their preparations.
Suff, you will be in charge of the Language Department, but strictly English. I can talk to Baba and try to pull her in for Malay. Amy, you can be guest tutor for only one lesson. You will tell them that Bangga does not mean Happy and that’s about it. After that, you and Wan can conduct your own Chemistry lessons. Zal, I need you to take care of the Computing side. At their level, teach them Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Photoshop. You teach them DOTA and I’ll fire you. Nazir, you’ll be in charge of humanities and both of us can take care of company accounts. Mus, you’ll be responsible for interior design, decorations and then you can start your own Art classes. Faliq, you’ll help them draw their hands on the wall and then you can have the time of your life. Sam, you’ll take care of our company’s legal procedures and dealings. And Nas, this is what you call WORK. So be mentally prepared.
I’m half-serious about this. So you guys in?
