So the plan was to have a joint celebration for the birthday boys of March I.e Sam ‘Green Tea’, Nazir ‘Stats’ and Zal ‘Kerb’ over a simple dinner. We were torn between Al Azhar and Carousel but we chose the latter because we just felt joy in burning a hole in our wallets.
I was from tuition at Woodlands and finally had a valid reason to be a late. Along the way in the train though, I managed to notice couples after couples having their sweet cuddly moments on the seats and for a moment, I was quite sickened with envy. Together with my Zen Random Playlist on fire belting out emotionally charged songs, I could easily have gone reminiscing but that was for another time another day. Not surprisingly, I terlajak and ended up at Somerset. Destination : Royal Plaza on Scotts. See this is what happens when you’re late. You’ll be even later.
Nevertheless, this is what greeted me on arrival.
Everyone already had plates on their table, everyone looked normal. Upon closer inspection, Zal wore a freaking beanie with a cekak cupping his neck and Irwan’s hair looked like a female Bob cut from the back. And Suff was late, but he came later in style.
My first serving of the night :A penne, linguine and spaghetti combined with Al fredo sauce, Bolognese sauce pomodoro and parmesan cheese topped off with a cut of traditional slow roasted chicken with herbs. Sounds impressive? Hisap. It was just some random noodles with a piece of meat.
This is the most generous serving of chicken rice ever. See that ball in the middle there. That’s the rice. I counted and there’s about 28 grains. I swear it looked like the chef just remembered he had rice in his pocket, took it out, made a shape out of it and WALAAA, you get chicken rice in a 5 star hotel.
This is my favourite out of the lot. Bread and butter pudding together with soufle fromage blanc with mixed berries. The name’s so exotic I had to try it.
Desserts was definitely appetizing. The chocolate fondue blended perfectly with the rich yet soft texture of the ice cream. Ceh ceh aku boleh jadi food critic ah.
These two are just born a day apart. Zal with the striped beanie and adidas sweater. Nazir swallowing some expensive food.
Sam just learnt how an X looks like. Biasa ah budak double degree. And Arbeloa on the left.
I look like I was superimposed into the photo with the light playing tricks on the picture. But Wan and I had a battle of the camera phones with his Samsung 5 mega pix bla bla bla making a debut.
Faliq with his arms around Suff.
Nazir, Faliq and again Suff. Suff was getting a lot of photo attention and with that top he’s wearing, obviously ah.
Suff left for the toilet so Nazir just decided to be in his seat.
The total bill in the end had everyone counting the decimal places but Faliq was being smart about it. He vomited half of what he ate in the toilet and got a cool refund afterwards.
