Even in Shaolin soccer you didn't see such a thing ah. Despicable, totally despicable I tell you. He has just been given a 10 game suspension. 10 games? Come on man. Ferdinand missed a drug test and he was given a 9 month suspension. Ok, you might say that I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but I still think a 10 game suspension is punishing him too lightly.
The Spanish soccer federation banned Pepe for one game for the red card, eight games for aggression towards opponents and one more match for his offensive remarks (oh ya, cos you didn't deserve your red card and you deserved to be on the field right. idiot). 8 games for aggression towards opponent? It should be 3 months for unprovoked aggression.
Lets say, lets just say he shoves the guy, the guy is bingit and headbutts him or something, then maybe, maybe he has a slight reason to be angry. But this, he shoves the guy, the guy falls (some says its a dive, but who cares), just minding his own business, rolling on the ground, acting hurt a bit (all the standard stuff they learn during fall drills), then POW, one kick and POW second kick. The best part was not shown in the video. Pepe proceeded to punch a Getafe player. Wow. So obviously, like i said before, he was so bingit about being unceremeniously sent off that he had a few words with the fourth official.
I think the best thing is, Juande Ramos said the ten-match ban is excessive. Its one thing to defend your player's actions but to go to that extent is just ludicrous. So what if Pepe said he lost control and that he is sorry? So what if he had all this pent up frustration because his team needed the win. That doesn't excuse his actions.
Look at Rooney man. He is perpetually angry. I think he the most affected whenever Man u is trailing or whenever they play badly. But you don't see him kicking and punching people right (well at least not anymore). Look at his performance yesterday. Superb, just world class. Its this kind of players that you have to respect, players who are passionate, give their all and channel their energy in the right direction.
If Real Madrid appeals the decision, I hope they slap him with a harsher ban.
