Open letter to RF

Dear Roger Federer,

Tomorrow evening at 1930(Melbourne time), you will be competing in your 18th Grand Slam final, another magic number amidst all your historic feats. Standing in your way will be an all too familiar opponent, Rafael Nadal. Much have been said about you no longer being the player you used to be. They said you’ve lost your touch. They said your golden days were over. Well, they can kiss your ace.

Last year, you won 1 Grand Slam, lost in 2 finals and bowed out in the semis of another. Sure that was a failure, only by your majestic standards. Your reputation precedes you. Where else can you go when you are at the top?

Recent matches have seen you back at your sublime best. Some of your shots, they’re just unreal. Your winners, effortless. Your movement, beautiful. Your brilliance, nonchalant. If only tennis is as easy as you portray it to be.

You're an artist and the court is your canvas. Tomorrow evening, I’ll be looking forward to yet another one of your masterpiece. May the best man win.

Liverpool Fans' Wishes (at least for those who know how to kick a ball)

I woke up at 4am in the morning to see a lineup with Lucas and Benayoun in it, and no Alonso. More shockingly was the omission of Dirk Kuyt, Dirk fucking Kuyt. I thought "Wow, Benitez really going crazy." No Alonso means Gerrard wasn't really playing behind Torres, coz most of the time he had to come back to start the attack. So Torres was practically alone.
Upz to Benayoun though, this time I really had nth to criticise about him. He scored a nice goal in the first half, and managed to create a few other chances. But but, that Benitez had other ideas (ideas as good as Nazir's "Ada sedikit masalah pada idea ini."). He brought in Kuyt for Benayoun, for wat fuck I dunno. It's so rare Benayoun is playing well, so just let him play la. Between Kuyt and Benayoun, this time I'd rather have Benayoun, not that normally I would want Kuyt. That adds one more to the stupid things Rafa ever did.
After that, to put cheese in the McSpicy, he took out Torres for Riera la. He left the disappointing Babel to be in front of Gerrard, instead of putting in Keane or Alonso to replace Lucas. I really dun get it. So Lucas did a favour by bringing a player down in the penalty box, for Mido to equalise in the 83rd min. Then finally he took out Gerrard for Keane. Then what, he expected Keane to conjure smth up in the last 5 mins? Pls la, even NASRUDDIN can't do that.
Also, there're some rumours about Agger's contract not settled or smth, and he's becoming a little unhappy. He shouldn't be ah. Come on la Agger, be professional, obviously Kuyt's contract is top priority. One last important thing for Benitez, "Isap bodoh! And wake up ur idea!"

Princess's Wishes

I was involved in some Amazing Race thing last Saturday. It’s actually “Foot-o-hunt” but Amazing Race sounds cooler. I thought I would be zipping around Singapore and stuff, unveiling clues as we went along, doing challenges and stuff but it definitely wasn’t how I imagined it to be. Instead of running or at least walking from one destination to another( I was really underdressed, wearing soccer shorts all while everyone else was in berms), Joses drove us around. Not that I or anyone else complained about it. Haha. It made life a whole lot easier. I had fun and all and made new friends. And I also won a COOLBEAN CapitaLand voucher. I can shop at any retail outlet which is in a CapitLand built mall dok. So for now, I’ll just let the pictures do the talking.

This is Farhan Zohri. He is a damn chill guy ah. He reminds me a bit of Hanan, very jovial, laughs at almost anything, basically a nice guy. I don’t know why he took this picture when they were better looking Jap girls around but I guess he was too distracted by the uniforms. Hopefully we might take Iman’s sister for an outing soon. Haha.

This is Iman. I seriously don’t know what she’s thinking in this picture but then again, I never know what she’s thinking. All I know is if I need help with directions, she’s definitely the first person I’ll ask. She’s more reliable than me. “Turn left here then make another left”. Quay surat, if we had listened to her, we would be driving around in circles ah. Suspect kuat, she would have taken 171 eight times.

This is Roger. I don’t know what to say about Roger, just that I think he is quite a cool guy. I heard he is a damn good dota player. If I were to guess at his personality, I would say he is a Nas, only that he is smart, funny and he has worked at least once in his life. Anyways, he made this relatively funny joke about a marathon for bankers but I have a feeling it’s a moment thing, so I won’t mention it here.

This is joses. What can I say about Joses that you guys don’t already know? He doesn’t have a individual photo as he was the cameraman, so ya. More importantly, nobody wanted to take a photo of him. Quite a cool jump. I never knew Joses was damn law abiding la. Ok, maybe he was more afraid of getting a fine than anything else. Everywhere also wanna place parking coupon. And when he parked at a double yellow line, he was damn kanchiong. Luckily nothing happened and thanks to him and his car, we got 2nd.

We ended the race at 1.17pm when the organisers told us we had to be back like by 5pm. The wonders of having a car. But guess what? While I was going to bus stop at around 4.55pm, there was this China team who was rushing back! Like omg la. Quite poor thing also because the team totally had foreigners and I bet they knew zilch about Singapore. They were like really running back, with resolute determination on their faces, trying to reach before 5pm cutoff mark. The best thing was, there was this guy wearing red boxers, as in really boxers. I seriously don't know what he was thinking but ya. At least lose in style ah.

HIGHEST Malay

Guys, if you thought that M. Nasir can write good malay, here comes M. Nazir

Lo and behold

Julianna sebenarnya cucu Encik Sukri.

If you guys want the continuation to this masterpiece, just ask me aiite.

HIGHER Malay

This is not a music video, but this is the only way I can show you guys the lyrics without having to paste them under the video. I'm an M Nasir fan ah, so I really gotta introduce this song. It's awe....wait for it..... some! The lyrics are kiiiisurat. I'm very sure M Nasir had some hand in the lyrics even though this is Malique feat M Nasir. This kind of high-level Malay with complex connotations can only be achieved by someone whose command in Malay is baik gils. This is like way beyond Suff's god-like Malay ah, sorry Suff.

Chandni Chowk to Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia Ke pe!

Today we have started planning for our June trip. Not really plan plan but discussing the possibilities. Our plan, or rather my initial plan was tour the top of Southeast asia: take a plane down to Myanmar then make our way down to Singapore, while backpacking through Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia (in that order). I got a "Isap bodoh" for that so yala. We are most probably just (chey, step "just) going backpacking in either Vietnam or Cambodia. Maybe both.

Anyway, I just want to be able to look back on this post in July (we should be back from our trip by then) and say "We did it!" Ok maybe not with that much enthusiasm. I just hope our plans come to fruition.

I'll continually keep updates on our planning. For our avid readers, I'm so sorry but this is an exclusive TOWNS and friends event so ya. But if you are a hello and would like to join us, please drop us an email and we'll see what we can do about it.

Because Cause And Time Are The Same Thing

Politics.
Paper bags.
Gas masks.
Love.
Swimming pools.
Yes guys, it's yet another takm video Zat would describe as "something even Suff can come up with".

This is Cause = Time by Broken Social Scene. The intro to this song is probably one of the coolest in Canadian indie rock history.

Devastating best

Apparently, there has been a big hoo-ha over Nadal's new look in the Australian Open. Usually playing in his tight sleeveless shirt and trademark 3/4 pants, he has traded that for a more conventional look albeit the striking colours. Personally, I like it. Firstly, the colours compliment each other and more importantly, it hides his biceps so we all can feel much better about ourselves.

But that's not the point of this entry. I just watched his 3rd round match and I am blown away. Make no mistake, I'm a Federer fan myself.

Maybe you guys wont appreciate it as much as I do but the way he demolished his opponent was mind boggling. Mind you that poor guy on the other side of the court is no slouch himself. Nadal was reaching to balls where no players could and belting out winners from ridiculous angles. The ultimate statistic was this. In the 2nd set, he made 16 winners and 1 unforced error. ONE!! How is that even humanly possible?! It is unheard of in the modern game for a player to be striking the ball that immaculately.

And oh, Ana lost. To this totally tak hello TTM(amasham Amy) punye player. Thanks man.
Nevermind, continue the fist pumping girl!

We should go Aussie just to see this guys

You Guys Don't Know Who They Are, But...

When I'm not a writer at TOWNs, I am a student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, feeling obscenely out of place as one of the more mature students there.

Of course I have a lot of friends who help dull that feeling, and here are 6 of them who I adore very very much.

We meet a lot of people in our daily lives. Hellos, non-hellos, rich people, crazy people, people with weird talents, people with conventional talents, the best singers, the best footballers, Nas' 'friends' in school. But really, I think it's people who make you stop and realise, there is real, sincere love among genuinely lovely people here, who you remember the most.

So here's another Happy Birthday to Renu (that lovely girl 2nd from the left) and here's humongous love loves to Nic, Renu, Natasha, Liyana, Munira and Diyanah.

You guys probably don't know who they are, but they make my world a better place when I'm not hanging out with you guys.

Nothing to do with TP

We've been recounting and recalling out favourite Friend's moments and I just can't help but put mine up. It was so hard to choose a single episode let alone a single scene but this scene just Jumps out whenever I think about Friends.

Classic Ross la, with his expression and all.

Food Review

Last night I was out with my family, to have dinner. The initial plan was to go to Simpang Bedok or Bedok Corner, whatever it's called ah, you all know what I'm talking about. However, the carpark was damn full, as in kisuratly full. We went a few rounds in the carpark and still couldn't find a vacant lot, standard ah, my luck. So my mum suggested Haig Rd or smth, near Joo Chiat area, and we went to Teh Tarik. I remember last time I went, Zat said the food was not bad, though I can't remember what Zat ordered. I ordered Fish n Chips, the fish was quite off. My dad got himself Nasi Goreng Pattaya, which cost a whopping 6 bucks ah. That's like almost 2 of it at anywhere else ah. K la, the serving was a tad more, but still, definitely not worth $6. My sister bought Nasi Ayam, and the nasi was hard. We were sitting at one of the tables along the sides, not along the main road, so it was a bit closer to the stalls. Somehow at times we were choked by the cooking smoke and all. So, I'll rate that Teh Tarik (dunno what's the name of the road) 4/10. And that's only coz the drinks were nice.

Dossena or Aurelio?

Now that Insua is off for some U20 South American championship, until Feb, Liverpool needs a leftback to replace that. Somehow, I think Insua have cemented his spot there, only after a few appearances. That's just how good he is. So now, Rafa decided to challenge both Dossena and Aurelio to win the battle for the vacant position. I wanted to laugh when I read that. After Dossena showed his speed-demon capabilities chasing down Mendy, Rafa still doesn't know who to choose? I bet even if Aurelio is better during training or whatever, the first choice will still be Dossena. Might as well ask Nazir to play seh. Hahah.

Lucky

For the record, I would like to say I'm the luckiest December baby. Lucky that my birthday falls on the last day of the year. Luckier that it is easy to remember. Luckiest that I get to celebrate it with my loved ones every year. And I will never take this for granted.
